With 8+ days you can explore the highlights of Central Tibet with the added bonus of Everest Base Camp. Add in beautiful Namtso Lake, Samye & the Yarlung valley or one of Tibet's colorful festivals.

Mount Kailash & Western Tibet

The focus of journeys to western Tibet is Mount Kailash, the holy mountain that stands at the center of Buddhist, Hindu, Jain and Bon cosmologies, the earthly manifestation of Mount Meru; the sacred lakes of Manasarovar & Rakshas Tal and the ancient kingdom of Guge.
To make a circumambulation (kora) of Mount Kailash is to cleanse yourself of the sins of a lifetime.

According to both Hindu and Buddhist cosmology the four great rivers of the world (Brahmaputra, Sutlej, Indus and Karnali have their sources in Lake Manasarovar (and whilst not exactly accurate all originate nearby)
